Malaga and a Touch of Gibraltar

We continued on to Malaga from our big hike. Our airbnb was in the old town. While it was comfortable and cute - with penguin on refrigerator - the elevator was broken and we climbed 5 flights each time we went out. We soon realized that no one sleeps in the old town. Being conveniently located next to the bars and restaurants does have a downside....until about 5am when things quiet down!

no counting cashier

Had a wonderful seafood dinner in Malaga. No wait staff or cashier count money. All money is fed into the register (where it is counted) which compares cash received with the tab. Any change is released to be taken to the customer.

the ROCK is visible from everywhere

We did not get to explore Malaga as our day would be spent at Gibraltar, the British property at the tip of Spain. We literally had to go through/drive through customs to get in and get out. Once in Gibraltar, everything suddenly turned very British including language, money, food, customs.

Besides wanting to see The ROCK, this is where my great grandfather was born to his military father who was stationed at the Rock in the 1800s.

Enough can not be said about the Barbary macaque monkeys that are ubiquitous around Gibraltar. They are the only wild monkeys in Europe and came from north Africa. They are EVERYWHERE and are fun to watch. Make no mistake - they own the place.
