Akureyri was a fun discovery, a vibrant, creative city (2nd largest) at a bit over 20,000 people. I ran into a yoga group doing a retreat there, backpackers, and business people from all over. Great restaurants and places to stay. Its on the water, and being at the central northern part of Iceland, we found the weather was really nice.
On our way to Akureyri, we explored the turf houses (traditional homes since the trees were/are scarce) in Glaumbaer.
